Money: What it really means and how to get more

    January 24, 2013

So here's the deal about money, business and sales.

I believe that money is energy. Flows in, flows out. If you make a difference in someone's life, the energy flows back to you in the form of money.

Look at Apple. How many billions of lives has it affected in a positive way? And look at how many people put energy - money - back into Apple.

I hear often, "I have to sell, sell, sell." Yes, you most certainly do because if you are in business, you are in sales.

However, what if you approached it in a different way? What if you asked, "How can I make a meaningful, striking difference in someone's life?"

And how can you package it so you can deliver that meaningful difference to as many people as possible?

Let's take Alexis Maybank, Co-Founder of the Gilt Groupe, for example. She and her partners have changed the way people shop. They have facilitated normal people like you and me to be able to purchase high-end luxury items easily and affordably. It has helped both brand and consumer to thrive in a down economy.

How about Jessica Herrin, founder of Stella & Dot? She revolutionized the Mary Kay model and made it hip, stylish, and fun. They have branded their sales reps as stylists so not only is it cool to sell Stella & Dot jewelry, it's also fun and empowering.

You don't have to have a product to create positive change in this world. You can have a powerful and insightful message. Take Simon Sinek, author of Start With Why. His message that has inspired millions is centered around what the greatest leaders - from MLK to Steve Jobs - have known: the why of your actions speak louder than your actual words. You know, the "I should" stuff that we feel in our daily grind... start with your why and mobilize your community around that inspiration.

It so happens that the reason Gilt Groupe and Stella & Dot are so successful is that they have helped hundreds of thousands of millions of people. They have made a difference to that many people.

These entrepreneurs are - through their businesses - changing the world.

My question to you: What is the energy you are sending out into the world?

How will you make a meaningful difference?

And how can you package it so it can get out there to as many people as possible?

Figure that out and watch the money flow in.
