It's not often enough that I take a step back from my life and acknowledge the happy things that are going on in my world. I'm really grateful for all of the people that I have in my life, including all of you. My life is actually pretty darn good and I forget that sometimes when I'm in the middle of it.
I realize I don't spend enough time thinking about the good things in my life. I wanted to take this opportunity to talk about some of the good things... Please humor me.
Now that we're all done with the illness that plagued our house for the last couple of weeks, I'm realizing that I've had quite a few good things happen in the last few days.
I've found out that I got the part in The Music Man that I wanted. I'm also working on costumes, makeup and hair (but I knew that before last week) and I'm in charge of the gift bags for the donor reception. Speaking of which, if anyone's interested in donating to the bags, I still have room. You can find the information here or email, tweet or private message me for more information.
I've had really good response to my open houses over the last couple of weeks and that's a relief. No buyer yet, but I'm grateful that we're at least having people come through. Carrying two apartment payments is very stressful and November and December were a huge dry spell...
Which reminds me, in case I forgot to wish anyone a happy new year, I wanted to send everyone a little happy thought before January's gone altogether.…

Happy New Year!!! Hope this year is the best ever!
I've had a decent amount of work coming in on a regular basis to my law firm, which makes me feel like I'm really starting to have a real law practice. I still haven't hit my 2009 goal of making $7500 per month, but I'm working in that general direction (and, besides, it's only January).
And my legal blog is getting up to 2000 hits per week. Wow! I didn't know so many people were interested....
I've also finished my first two ebooks. They should be up for sale as of next week. I'm very pleased with how they've come out...
In the spirit of gratitude and giving, I also wanted to share with everyone a couple of products that have come into my life in the last couple of months that have made my life easier...
1. Neat Receipts scanner - http://reviews.cnet.com/scanners/neatreceipts/4505-3136_7-31206164.html
Usually when my hubby tries to buy me technology for the holidays he fails miserably. But this one, I love. It's so tiny and SO easy to use. I highly recommend it.
2. Efax - http://www.efax.com/
I've been using eFax for over a year and I couldn't live without it. You get all of your faxes to your email and you can send faxes directly from your computer. They give you a fax number or you can register one that you already have. No big bulky fax machine necessary.
3. Magic Jack - http://www.magicjack.com/1/index.asp
I don't often have a lot of faith in products that are advertised on TV, some of them are great. For me, the MagicJack ranks right up there with OxyClean, Mighty MendIt and the Hercules Hook. It gives you a second phone line (or a first) right off of your computer. No need to pay the phone company for a second phone line. We just got ours a month ago, but the call quality is just like using the regular phone.
4. Phone Tag - http://www.phonetag.com/
PhoneTag is one of my favorite things because I HATE voicemail. I don't have the time or the energy to listen to voicemails. What PhoneTag does is it converts your voicemails into email and sends the "voicemail" to your email address. You don't have to worry about not having a pen with you when you check your messages or even deleting them by mistake (which I freely admit, I do all the time).
5. Grand Central - http://www.grandcentral.com/
Ok, this one isn't really for work, but I love it and I know most of you are moms and would appreciate it. Although it has many other features that I have not explored, what Grand Central does is it gives you one phone number that, when you call it, rings on all of your phones.
It's invaluable in this day and age when parents have home, work and cell numbers. How can a little kid be expected to learn all of them? And what if you're not there when they need you? Grand Central rings all of the phones on your list and lets anyone answer your phone. For example, we have home, my cell, my husband's cell, his direct line at work and my mother in law's cell all routed through the same number.
We give that number to his school and we're teaching him that number so he can call it or give it to an adult in case there's a problem. LOVE IT!!!
I hope some of these gadgets and gizmos are helpful to you too. Take a little time today to think about some of the things that you might be overlooking that you're grateful for...
