Sorry folks, I've fallen off of the radar for the last week. To say I've been under the weather would be a gross understatement.
We've been having a lovely bout of a most disgusting germ that my son picked up at preschool (gotta love preschool). I even got the uncommon pleasure of having mucus coming out of my 3 year old's eyes for the last 4 days and sealing them shut every night....
EWWWWW! I'm pretty sure that wasn't on the mommy list of duties when I signed up.… I'm going to have to re-check that contract.
Which leads to my lesson for the day (which is only partially tongue in cheek)….
How many times do you actually READ contracts that you're signing? Now, don't lie. If you didn't say, "Oh, absolutely every time, Deena!" then you may need to re-think your strategy.
And if you're signing up for services online, did you look at their Terms of Use? Don't make that face....
It is vitally important to your business to read and understand what you're agreeing to. And if you don't understand, ask questions. If that doesn't help, find someone who does understand and can explain it to you before you sign.
I know. I write contracts every day. And it's my job to slant them in my client's favor and to protect my client the best way possible. It is not, however, my job to protect my client's clients.
Keep that in mind the next time you just go to sign your name. Ignorance of the language in that contract (and an understanding of what it means) is not a defense if you violate the agreement and end up in court. Just my $.02...
But, I'm happy. Because although I'm still sick, at least Noah's better today.
I'd hate for him to be sick today because it's his 4th birthday! YAY! Which also explains why I'm going to be bad right now and hop off so that I can get ready to go to his school and do cupcakes with his class (they don't seem to have out of school parties at his school).…
I asked my boss and she said it was fine for me to take the afternoon off for Noah's birthday. It's nice when your boss has the same priorities that you do. ;o)
Man, I love working for myself....
More soon....
Goal: To launch my law firm and raise my kids without losing my mind...
