As many of you know, I'm in the middle of my Inertia Project Challenge, which is meant to get me out of the galloping inertia that I've been experiencing.
I've started a café for all those who would like to join me on being accountable for overcoming the inertia. Join us. The more, the merrier.
It has come to my attention that part of my problem (I don't know if it's that I'm a woman or it's just me) is that I often like to try to take on big projects and don't finish them as quickly as I'd like.
Then I beat myself up about it.
Then I decide it's not worth doing anything if I can't get things done. It's a vicious cycle.
I've come to realize that I need to take baby steps. I need to take large projects and split them into bite sized bits.
In addition to (or because of) all my work, marketing, taking care of my kids, grocery shopping, meetings, trying to sell my apartment and everything else, things are falling through the cracks.
For example, I need to clean my house (desperately!), but if I make that my project, I'll never get it done. It's too daunting and it would take a full day (which I don't have).
So, I've broken it down into manageable bites. Every few days, I'm cleaning one area of my home (except the kitchen, that gets cleaned every day).
My schedule looks something like this:
Monday - Wipe down one bathroom
Tuesday - Laundry
Wednesday - Front area (You know the one. The spot where everyone drops everything when they walk into the house)
Thursday - Bedrooms and Laundry
Friday - Wipe down the other bathroom
Saturday - Wash the floors
Am I actually going to follow the schedule? Well, now that I've told you that I am, I guess I have to...
You've got to love the accountability portion of this project...
Anyone else want to join me? What projects have you been putting off because it'd take too long? Can you make it into smaller bites?
