Yes, my "desk" always has toy cars or dinosaurs on it.
Really, I'm only half kidding.
I've been been remiss in posting at Savor the Success because I've been getting my oldest baby off to his first days of preschool (which has a "transition schedule", which means that we go for the first hour for three days, then two and a half hours for two days before we actually go to the "real" schedule).

Noah's first day...
The funniest thing is my kid is the last one to need a "transition schedule". I took him in the first day, he looked at me, said, "Bye Mom!" and off he went. So, I've been sitting outside his classroom (because I have to) for days.
Other than being busy with that, I've got an unusually large number of errands to run this week. However, I've learned a couple of important things....
First, if you don't use a business account for over a year, Commerce Bank makes it dormant. And if you want to reactivate it, you have to show up at a branch and wait for customer service to help you. Whether your kids are screaming or not. Serves them right for not letting me do it online or by phone.
Frankly, the bank should hear me coming and do everything in its power to keep me from coming in. But they don't.
Every time I have a check from a client, I have to go in to the bank and deposit it with the teller, because they won't let me have an ATM card for an Attorney IOLA (the New York version of an attorney escrow) account (which is a different account from the one that went dormant). Noah's loving the pickup in his lollipop consumption... Me, not so much.
Oh, and I've managed to lose the starter checks from the business account that went dormant, so in order to transfer money between that account and my personal account (which is at another bank) when I get paid, I have to use the "sneakernet", which entails me going to the counter, requesting a withdrawal in cash of the amount of my pay and walking the cash over to my other bank and depositing it at their counter (because I still don't trust depositing cash into the ATM). Thankfully, they're less than a block apart...
Second, I've re-learned that you can't send a letter request return receipt without going into the post office unless you have all the supplies at home. And who really keeps those supplies at home? Well, now, I do...
Third, and this one is important, I've learned that if your child screams in the post office, it echoes around the post office like you wouldn't believe. If they switch to a full-on tantrum, the police might just show up to see what's going on...
Finally, no matter how many times you put laundry on your "to do" list, it's not going to happen before someone runs out of underwear...
At least I'm thankful for this. My post is finished and I can check another item off of my list...
Goal: Launch my own law firm and take care of my family without losing my mind.
Goal Date: February 2009
