PR Tip from Penelope - Make sher your pitch is free of typos

    July 29, 2009
  • Jarring, isn’t it? When you see a glaring typo, it really distracts you – and let’s be honest, it colors your opinion of the writer, does it not?

Typos and misspellings and grammatical errors are common, human mistakes, not the biggest deals in the world, but when you’re sending a pitch to a journalist, you should do everything in your power to avoid them. Your pitch is like your resume, business card, or the sign on the front of your office; it’s your first face and your first attempt at making a good impression. On top of that, you’re sending your pitch to a journalist, by definition a wordsmith who’s more likely than most to notice these errors. Do take the time to proof your pitch before it goes out.
