Up against the wall
Y'all wanna look at some pictures?!
In case you missed my previous entry about this, I asked my friend and co-worker Donna Tine to bring her big, fancy camera in and take some quick shots. We took an hour to grab some coffee last Thursday and she took pictures all the way there and back...my only direction being, " Take a million photos...I just don't want to look like a jerk." Not exactly the most inspiring direction ever given.
I've gotta be honest here, I am TERRIFED of photos. I am petrified of getting caught eating something insane like Deep Fried Mac and Cheese bars, no bra, and wearing glasses. I amequally as frightened, though, by perfectly posed angel photos -- every hair is perfectly placed, no pimple left unconcealed, but no soul since it was obviously sucked out by the Dementors from Harry Potter.
I swear I'm working on it! But the residual insecurity of being 60lbs overweight in high school and college can be a pretty tough thing for me to hide sometimes. But I've realized the trick to me getting a photo I'm please with is to not hide from it at all. That experience will always be with me, and will inform everything I do. It is a part of who I am and what I write. That's the cost of entry at Sarahcentric... it has to be ME.
So instead of making this into some federal case photoshoot where I'm struggling to look like Thandie Newton, I just asked a friend to grab some coffee. The result I think are some natural pictures with good lighting, little make-up, that don't make me look like a jerk.
Feel free to check out the pics and weigh in on my Flickr. Donna and I had such a good time I may have to buy her a lot more coffee to take some more in the fall. But I would love any feedback you have now.
