They definitely had something to do with all of this!
This will be a quick entry since most of my morning was spent hunting for the "run on the bank" scene from Mary Poppins. I'm cooking up a Sarahcentric entry about the Wall Street crisis involving this scene. Being a writer is weird. (Or maybe just being THIS writer is weird...) I haven't nailed it yet, but soon!
Some quick thoughts/updates...
*I'm feeling comfy and settled in my new writing schedule. It dawned on me the other day how second nature it has become to get to Sarahcentric at least twice a week and update. Before establishing my STS goal, I was struggling to post a new entry once every 10 days or so. Now I can't go for more than a week without posting. But at the same time, I am also getting better about pushing myself too hard. If the rest of my life is taking attention away from the blog, I need to roll with that too. Bottom line, this is hard work but it's also supposed to be fun. Balance, balance, balance.
*Man, Peter Shankman must have had some great stuff to say about Twitter. I received so many follow requests from STS members this week!! That's fantastic. If anyone needs more help beyond what I offered in my last blog, lemme know!
*I wrote my first political-ish blog this week. I received tons of hits, but not nearly as many comments as expected. Hmmm...I wonder if I just wrote this a little too late after the conventions? People are just overloaded on political blogs right now? Maybe my reader is the type of person who is looking for a break from all of that...hmmm.
*I'm taking my social networking to the real world!! I'm happily surprised at how comfortable I have become discussing Sarahcentric with my friends, co-workers and even strangers. In fact, I met a guy online at Staples last week and found myself giving him one of my postcards!! I was a little embarrassed and confused on the train home as to why I did that. But when he followed up a few weeks later to tell me he enjoyed my blog, I was relieved. Sarahcentric isn't a hobby. It feels like it's just part of my life.
*In general, I'm looking to do a lot more Sarahcentric networking in the real world. A while back I contacted a new blog software company called Squarespace with some questions about their software. (People have built some really beautiful blogs there, definitely check them out.) They invited me to a class at their offices here in Manhattan with cocktails immediately following. A lot of technical confusion is coming up for me as I work on my specs for the new blog with my designer. I am looking forward to brainstorming with other bloggers in person.
Jeez ...am I blogger now? Weird!!
