    Sarahcentric Redux

The new Sarahcentric 2nd pass, so close!

Check out Chris Ammons' latest version of my new blog design.  I am so in love I can't stand it!  If you check out the first pass, you'll see that the basic creative execution is still the same.  The biggest change is the website Navigation section.

It was originally designed on another one of those tea-stained pieces of paper.  But I felt that this section really needed to pop since a site's navigation is so important.  I also wanted a picture of myself that I could swap out easily on the homepage.  So I asked Chris if it was possible to move the whole navigation section to another "piece of paper" that would live directly under the header horizontally.  Then I wondered if "Who am I?" could be a separate widget on the sidebar where my picture could live.

Now remember, I am not a designer.  I had no idea how a specific note like the one I gave Chris would impact the overall design and function of the site.  But then again, I never thought he would produce my notes exactly as requested. My suggestions were just a way to communicate what I felt was missing if I clicked over to this site as a new reader.   As a television producer, I've learned the key is to be as specific as possible with your notes to get your point across, but at the same time remain open to your collaborator's opinion and expertise. I hired Chris not only because I admire his abilities, but because he and I communicate easily.

You can see how Chris solved the problem.  For technical reasons, the Navigation had to remain on the sidebar.  I need for my blog template to be flexible if and when I want to add more pages. Adding the Navigation to the banner would prevent that...no good.  So Chris changed the design of that first piece of paper, adding a new color to the pallette and giving it this cool yellow Post-it look.  He then added my picture as a separate piece that lives on top of the Sarahcentric header.  We both feel that this solves the functional issues I was having and adds another layer of depth and awesome-ness to the overall design.

I have one more very minor note for Chris to address; the spacing of the letters in my name on the header. (Minor, I know..but I told you, I'm specific!;-) But for all intents and purposes, this is the new Sarahcentric!!!  WOO-HOO!!  From this point, Chris will work with his computer programmer guy, (I know there is probably a specific title for this, but have no idea what that is), who will put this design on a server where I can test it out and make sure everything is working. Once everything is good, we transfer all of my blog posts and info to the new template and we go live.

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
