    UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

    December 7, 2008
  • Soooooooo, I pretty much have no idea when my new site will be up.

The story is boring and irritating I can hardly bear to tell it.  But since this blog is all about learning from one another, I need to share my sad and sorry tale.

Basically, my developer guy and I planned on transferring the domain on Friday evening.  We assume this would all happen within 24-48 hours so that we could test everything out for the weekend and have a bright and shiny new site for everyone to enjoy on Monday.  HOWEVER, what we did not realize is that a domain transfer can take anywhere from 5-7 days to go through!!! AND because this transfer is currently pending, I can't get to my old domain to just chance the DNS servers.  If I had done this in the first place, it would have taken only a few hours to go through. Errrrrr.

Here's the deal. You could go to Sarahcentric tomorrow and it may be all beautifu and new or old, blah and brown.  We just don't know.  In fact, it could have happened right..NOW!!! (Just hit refresh, still nothing!) But even so, my glorious giveaway won't start until we've checked to make sure everything is working properly.

Needless to say, I am pretty disappointed.  But I did learn a lot...

    1. It's pretty difficult to do an official "launch" promotion for a new website.  It's not like a television show where you have a hard day and time to throw to.
    2. If you do NOT need to transfer domains, don't!  Changing the DNS servers would have had the exact same effect and in far less time.

The minute this site is live and working, you will be the first ones to know. But for now, I go back to my other browser window to hit REFRESH.

    Refresh..

    Refresh..
