    Zen-ning out

    September 14, 2008
  • Sarah Jackson meditating

The last day of my first 5 day meditation retreat...all Buddha'd out.

I got tons done this week/weekend and I somehow managed to not have a thrombosis about it. It is possible that sometimes I can be a bit melodramatic about all of the work I need to get accomplished.  The fact of the matter is it always gets done. Maybe it's not today, tomorrow instead...but still, the world will not cease to spin. When I focused on just finishing the task that was in front of me, it not only happened, but it was actually kind of pleasant.  Who knew? Check it out, I'm on fire!

-Worked out with new trainer Joy twice this week.  Although my legs and arms are broken, I am looking forward to looking just like Halle Berry in the next 6-8 weeks.

-Sent deposit off to my designer along with a list of deliverables for the blog's re-design.  I cannot tell you how freaking stoked I am for this!  Producing and collaborating on projects like this is my jam.  I love watching all of the pieces come together. And they're going to be my pretty pieces!  We're on track to be finished by 12/1. Rebecca Zwar has been super helpful in helping me navigate the mystery that is Amazon Associates.  I cannot wait until this puppy is done and I could potentially make a few bucks from it.

-I've written two pieces since I've been back.  One light and funny featuring a Jackson family story, of course. And a big MamaJama piece on Barack Obama and what Community Organizers mean to me personally. I have been wanting to write this ever since the RNC and I think I really nailed what I've felt compelled to say for some time.  Just feeling a little proud right now.:-)

-Oh and by the way, having lots of success from Twitter.  I can't stress the "social" part of social networking enough.  Check out your followers blogs and comment. They will often return the favor.  And it's worth taking a few minutes at lunch to read the "what are you eating for lunch today?" tweets and responding.  It's all part of building the relationships.

Ahhhhh, I love this blissed out place when you get stuff done and you're all light and breezy. Please remind me of this place when I abruptly snap out of it and I'm crying into my burrito once again.
