We all know how important it is to protect our reputation and develop our brands in the online world. There are numerous tools and strategies to help you do this. Below is a list of my top 4 FREE personal favorites:
Google Alerts
I have mentioned these before, but they are an INVALUABLE way to manage the reputation of your product/service, company and your personal brand in cyberspace. They are also an invaluable competitive intelligence tool. Its soo easy to set up. Set them up for your name, name of your company, your products and services and then do the same for all of your competition. You will be shocked how much info these little gems bring in and how many stories, blog post etc you will find and be able to quickly respond to of people looking for you or your competitors - or some thing like your product/service. For example, we have so many alerts set up that I can keep count, but a few are :
medical charms, medical alert bracelet, medical alert ID charms etcat least once every few days I find someone blogging about looking for one of the three above and am able to in close to real time reach out to them and tell them about wellalarm and provide them with a coupon and or free period of service - invaluable!
Twitter Search
Basically same thing as google alerts, but for twitter! (there are numerous other tools for doing this in twitter - a couple of which I discussed a couple of weeks ago in my top 10 twitter apps post - my favorite is tweetlater)
Boardtracker
Great for finding the discussion boards you should be on and tracking their conversations - especially what they say about you and your products!
Technorati
Great for tracking things being said about you in the blogosphere - lets you track ANYONE who blogs about and links to you! Great way to know who you need to reciprocate to in order to remain a courtesy member of cyberspace! You can also play with it to find the top blogs in certain topics spaces.
