    Top 10 Twitter Apps Reviewed

    December 27, 2008
  • After participating in the Savor the Success call a couple of weeks ago I still remained on the fence about twitter as an effecient way to solicit customers for wellalarn, but I started to think more seriously about it as a means to reach out to the media and to enhance our DIY PR effort! Since the call I have been trying to build our followers (I have gained 115 in 10 days with little effort)  especially journalists and I have been trying to tweet an interesting article or fact about health and wellness every day. One of my new Years resolutions is to tweet twice a day so I hope you will all help hold me to it!Being the geek I am I started playing around the other day with a bunch of Twitter apps and have decide to share my top 10 favorite twitter apps thus far with you bellow with a very brief review:

    1. Twellow

A search engine of sorts for twitter. You can find people by category of what they do and are interested in...(I cant emphasize enough how cool this is for finding journalists to follow who then often follow you back!)

    2. Tweetlater

Assume automation for twitter! This allows you to auto follow people who follow you and automatically send people direct messages who follow you! It will also follow keywords for you and send them to you in a digested email for you to review at your convenience! If you would like, it will send you your tweets in email digest form via email as well! I highly recommend their fabulous tutorials

I urge people to think through automatically thanking someone for following them on twitter. I started doing this but then realized I find it pretty annoying to receive a standard message from people thanking me when I follow them..so I stopped sending the auto-message  thanking people for following me (I'd love to hear if other people do this? If so, why? Do you find it helpful or annoying? )

    3. TweetDeck
Helps you organizer your twitter! This is a desktop app (available for both mac and pc)

    4. Twitterfone
Lets you tweet by voice (literally you call a number, say your message and it  sends it via twitter) - I have actually not been able to try this yet as it is in beta with limited invitations - but how kewl does it sound???

    twitterfone

    5. Twitpic
Send pics via twitter - how can u not love this (especially when tweeting from your phone or blackberry)

    6. Twalala
I only have 127 followers and the tweets are already overwhelming to sort through in a busy day.  This app lets you filter your stream and you can even mute someone that is on your list that you may not be all that interested in seeing their info as part of your stream!

    7. Twubble
Very kewl way to increase your twitter list.  The app scans your current friends lists and suggests to you people you may want to follow! That said, I am still not clear if it makes sure you aren't already following them yet - so please keep that in mind!

    8. Twitgraph
I have a feeling as time goes by Twitgraph will rise to the top of my list. You Just type in a twitter name and see graphs of all your twitter stats! As I just started twittering about 10 days ago my graph isn't very interesting but I can certainly see how interesting this information will be to me (a numbers person by nature) moving forward. I cant wait to see how it will match-up to our google analytics stats on the site and if we will be able to use them together to measure the effectiveness of twitter  (and particularly what specifically we say on twitter) on our sales and site traffic moving forward...

    9. TwitterKeys
Cute and simple graphics you can easily insert into your twitter messages. Not only are they appealing because of the visual - but often the help you reduce your number of characters- think I ♥ U instead of I love you

    twitterkeys
    10. Tweetcube
    Send files via twitter!
