Hi! I am a contemporary artist at MarinMOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) in Novato, California. I use a rope technique to wrap fabric that I rescue from thrift stores, designer houses and more. I am very disturbed by the amount of textile waste produced each year. I have used 100+ items of clothing, linens and remnants in my art that would otherwise have been discarded. In addition to my textiles and drawings, I curate the modernboro collection. Boro means "rag" in Japanese: pieces of endlessly repaired and patched futon covers, kimonos, work garments, and other textiles made by Japanese farmers from 1850 to 1950 with leftover, indigo-dyed cotton.
