My daughter and I are passionate about helping people green up their celebrations.

We like to say we're changing the world one celebration at a time.

Our premise is that people have begun establishing eco and green habits and do a pretty good job EXCEPT when it comes to celebrating. This wouldn’t be a problem (or less of one) if we celebrated say once a year. But add the biggies like Christmas, Halloween, Easter and July 4th to the myriad personal celebrations like birthdays, anniversaries, baby and wedding showers and more and you’ll get the picture. Millions of us throw out what we know to be right as soon as a celebration rolls around. Our book, "Celebrate Green! Creating Eco-Savvy Holidays, Celebrations and Traditions for the Whole Family," shows people how to put their values to work regardless of the celebration. We offer countless easy, low- or no-cost ideas that are good for people, the Earth and the community.

Celebrate Green! is printed on 100% recycled paper by an FSC certified printer. On our website, customers may choose to plant a tree with purchase of the book. A portion of the proceeds from sales go to two non-profits that work to improve the health of children, www.Treeswing.org and www.HealthyChild.org.

My activities, interests, and hobbies

Two years ago, my daughter and I founded a community based program, Green Halloween (www.GreenHalloween.org). The idea was to start the conversation about creating healthier, more meaningful holidays, starting with Halloween. The concept took off from the Seattle area, where we both live, and is now a nationwide endeavor. Green Halloween was licensed to the non-profit, Treeswing, and currently operates as one of their projects with all monies raised going to Treeswing.

In addition to the book and Green Halloween, my husband of 40 years and myself work with people learning to speak English in a program we started where we live called Talk Time. I enjoy crafting (watch out, don't stand still, I'm likely to decoupage you!), gardening, reading and best of all, playing with our four grandchildren.
